Embark on the Druk Path Trek, an unforgettable high-altitude pilgrimage through Bhutan’s spiritual and scenic heartlands. Over eight invigorating days, traverse verdant pine forests and mystical rhododendron meadows, camp beside shimmering alpine lakes like Jimilang Tsho, and ascend to peaks soaring above 4,000 meters. En route, explore ancient monasteries perched on cliffs and dramatic passes with panoramic views of the Himalayas.
This immersive journey culminates in a descent to Phajoding Monastery, where sweeping vistas of Thimphu Valley await. Designed for moderately fit trekkers, this path marries adventure, reflection, and culture—making every step both a physical ascent and a soulful journey.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Thimphu
Land in the beautiful Paro Valley, surrounded by Himalayan peaks.
Visit Paro Dzong and the National Museum to get your first taste of Bhutanese culture.
Evening stroll through Paro town to acclimatize.
Overnight in Paro.
Day 2: Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery
Begin your Bhutan journey with the iconic hike to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest), perched on a cliffside 900m above the valley floor.
Explore the monastery and capture sweeping valley views.
Evening preparation and briefing for the trek.
Overnight in Paro.
Day 3: Trek Begins – Paro → Jele Dzong (3–4 hrs trek)
Trek starts from Ta Dzong above Paro.
Ascend through blue pine forests and villages to the ridge at Jele Dzong (3,400m).
Camp near the monastery, with stunning views of Paro Valley below.
Day 4: Jele Dzong → Jangchulakha (4–5 hrs trek)
Gradual climb along ridges with views of snow-capped mountains.
Pass through dense forests of rhododendrons and alpine vegetation.
Overnight camp at Jangchulakha pastureland, often dotted with yak herders.
Day 5: Jangchulakha → Jimilang Tsho (6 hrs trek)
Trail undulates across ridges with vistas of Mount Jomolhari in the distance.
Descend to the breathtaking Jimilang Tsho Lake, famed for its giant trout.
Lakeside camping experience under a starry sky.
Day 6: Jimilang Tsho → Simkotra Tsho (4–5 hrs trek)
Trek past smaller glacial lakes and alpine meadows.
Panoramic views of the high Himalayas if skies are clear.
Camp at Simkotra Tsho, surrounded by tranquil waters.
Day 7: Simkotra Tsho → Phajoding → Thimphu (6–7 hrs trek)
Final ascent to a ridge at 4,210m with 360° Himalayan views, including Gangkar Puensum (world’s highest unclimbed peak).
Descend gradually to Phajoding Monastery, a serene retreat overlooking Thimphu Valley.
Continue downhill to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital.
Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 8: Departure
Morning exploration of Thimphu city highlights (if time permits).
Transfer to Paro Airport for your onward journey.
